The Russian River cuts Sonoma County in half from its entry point at the Mendocino border to mid-county where it heads due west through the most spectacular combination of rolling hills, redwood forests and charming country towns. It reaches the Pacific Ocean between the lovely town of Jenner and Goat Rock Beach. The small towns that pepper the west valley—Guerneville, Monte Rio, Duncans Mills, Rio Nido—have a quaint mid-century summer cottage vibe. The river meanders slowly, the Bohemian Highway leisurely winds through the woods and every person you meet will along the way knows they found a little piece of heaven.
